We made it to Irkutsk
We flew out of London to Moscow and then we were to go on to Irkutsk. Because of heavy fog in Irkutsk we were diverted to Bratsk for a couple hours and then finally landed in Irkutsk. Needless to say we were very tired when we arrived. The weather is beautiful ( high 70's) and sunny. We took some time to rest and go to the market for groceries on Saturday and then on Sunday we traveled to the baby home to get Tatiana. We are here with another couple adopting from the Angarsk home and so we went with them to get their son, Alex. We were able to see Denis Dedenko, another boy who is in Alex's group. We took some photo's of Denis for Brandi and Clay who are waiting to return to Irkutsk to bring Denis home. The little one's were precious and we gave them some love while we were there and were rewarded with beautiful smiles in return! When we arrived at Tatiana's group we were greated by Tatiana who had just been awoken from her nap. She was full of smiles and we were told that she had been asking about us and had even asked what country she was moving to. The caregivers were wonderful and wrote a note to Tatiana and allowed us to take a dress from the orphanage and the cross which she had been given when whe was baptised. We are sure that they loved Tatiana as they wre so sad that she was leaving. They asked us to care for her and never hurt her....a promise we readily made. Before we left they asked us to sit for a minute...a Russian tradition done before one moves to a new home. Taking Tatiana from the home was an emotional time for us and we are filled with joy to have her with us.- Melanie
